Kittson Healthcare Charge Disclosure

Beginning January 1, 2021, the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services are requiring hospitals and health systems to post their “current, standard charges.” To be compliant with this mandate, Kittson Healthcare has included their current charge master with charges for all services.

Hospital charges are the amount a hospital bills an insurer for a service. For most patients, hospitals are reimbursed at a level well below charges. Patients covered by commercial insurance products have negotiated rates with hospitals. Patients covered by Medicare or Medicaid programs have hospital reimbursement rates determined by federal and state governments.

Hospital charges may include bundled procedures, personnel, services, and supplies. An example would be room rates that include the space, equipment, nursing personnel, and supplies. When a patient has the opportunity to shop for medical services, he or she should contact his or her own insurance carrier to understand which costs will be covered and which will be the patient’s responsibility.

This shoppable and all services price list is based on information we have gathered from our claims and insurance payment files. This is not a guarantee of what you will be charged. Your actual charges may differ from the estimated charges for many reasons, including the seriousness of your medical condition, actual time the procedure takes and the services and supplies that you receive. If you have insurance, your benefits will ultimately determine the amount you owe (including deductibles, co-pay, co-insurance, and out-of-pocket maximums).

The shoppable or all services price list was developed to help you determine the potential cost for services only. If you proceed with services at Kittson Healthcare, you may be given a new estimate with more accurate cost and out-of-pocket information. Please contact 218-843-3612 for more information.

Kittson Healthcare shall not be liable for any difference between charges listed in the price lists and the final bill for services. You may be eligible for financial assistance under Kittson Healthcare’s financial assistance policy. Financial hardship is evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
